EVENT DETAILS:

Keene Valley Congregational Church

Vocalist and songwriter Gabrielle Stravelli blends musical traditions with a modern, genre-bending sensibility. Her tremendous swing feel and gift for lyric interpretation have led to a career defined by joyful performances and a deep connection with audiences, and have made her a mainstay of the NYC jazz scene. Unexpected, highly individual choices are her trademark.

In March of 2025 Gabrielle wrapped her fifth month-long residency leading her trio at Birdland jazz club and made her debut at The Jazz Corner in Hilton head, SC. In April Gabrielle appeared at Joe’s Pub with Fred Hersch, Kate Mcgarry and Rondi Charleston to celebrate the release of “Suspended in time”, a new recording featuring Gabrielle and Kate singing Fred’s music and Rondi’s lyrics.

In 2024 Gabrielle made her Carnegie Hall debut with the New York Pops Orchestra and released her fifth album, Beautiful Moons Ago. Highlights of 2023 include headlining the 2023 Cayman Arts festival on Grand Cayman island, the 2023 COTA Jazz festival and appearing in the 92Y’s critically acclaimed Lyrics & Lyricists series alongside Billy Stritch. She also toured Chile performing in concert halls & jazz clubs.

She has toured the United States with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra performing his masterwork Abyssinian: A Gospel Celebration. She first worked with Fred Hersch in 2013, premiering his song cycle, Rooms of Light, at Montclair University PAC.

The NY Times wrote of her: “Listening to Gabrielle Stravelli is like imbibing a potent cocktail whose flavor changes as you drain the glass….she dipped and swooped, twirling notes and phrases with a confidence and playfulness that recalled Ella Fitzgerald in her prime…”

Gabrielle’s quartet features bassist Pat O’Leary and pianist Art Hirahara.
