Homonkulus featuring Seamus Blake is a new jazz quartet stretching some boundaries of jazz, folk, and world music while maintaining the highest international standards of modern jazz. Seamus Blake has appeared on over 70 jazz albums, including records by John Scofield, the Mingus Band, Dave Douglas, Victor Lewis, and has performed with a dizzying array of top jazz artists including Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. Seamus won first prize in the 2002 Thelonious Monk competition, one of the most prestigious jazz artist competitions in the world.
Also featured in this quartet is bassist Jesse Murphy, who has performed and recorded with an impressive list of jazz stars including albums and tours with Nora Jones, drummer Brian Blades, guitarist John Scofield, and many others. Jesse relocated to the north country during the pandemic and now calls Jay his home, traveling for recording sessions and tours while performing occasionally locally. We're excited about the opportunity to bring jazz at this truly international level of artistry to Keene Valley. Please Join Us! No reservations needed, just come and enjoy.
