Please join us on Sunday September 29, 3PM, at the Keene Valley Congregational Church for an afternoon of exciting and beautiful music from Latin America, performed by some of the finest musicians in the Adirondacks, and even a few who are 'honorary' ADK musicians. Featured on the program are recreations of three tangos by the legendary Astor Piazzolla Quintet, featuring Rose Chancler on piano, Matt Dunne on guitar, Sue Grimm Hanley on accordion, Marilyn Reynolds on violin, and Darrel Tidaback on double bass. Here's a video of one of those tangos, played by the composer's quintet:
Also on the program is a very beautiful and well known composition by the Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-lobos, Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, performed by the wonderful soprano Laurel Thomas, with Rose Chancler, Marilyn Reynolds, and Darrel Tidaback accompanying. Laurel is also singing two Brazilian pop/folk tunes, composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Dori Caymmi. Here's the complete program:
